In 2009, we initiated our Music Instrument Bank. It is an exciting way to promote and
increase access to the arts by putting musical instruments in the hands
of musically-gifted, underprivileged children whose potential would
otherwise never be realized. The program offers patrons of the arts a
concrete and creative way to assist underprivileged children to
exercise their gifts. Given the socio-economic conditions of the
children we work with and the ever-increasing value of musical
instruments, these children lack access to such instruments. Through
your generous support, we can identify and foster talented musicians
who would not have been able to reach their potential on their own. Formal instruments donated to the Bank will be on loan to children who meet our eligibility requirements. A) Promote Music while Recycling We want to transform recycled materials into music instruments for the migrant children we work with. Spread the word and help us locate the following items. Contact us to arrange drop-off of these "instruments." - Coffee Tins
- Cookie, Chocolate or Candy Tins
- Oil Cans
- Plastic Buckets
- Paint Buckets
- Water Cooler Jugs
- Liquor Tins
- Wine Tins
- Plastic Pails
B) Music Instruments
- Pianos (electric and stand-up)
- Violins
- Guitars
- Drum set
Assessment
Each applicant for music instruments listed in "B" will be reviewed by a panel of experts for his or
her musical talent, interest in pursuing music, and motivation to apply
his or her talent to promoting increased access to music for others.
Applicants will be required to prepare a performance upon reaching
their term of the loan period.
